Here’s the Face of Our Future Robot Overlords

Posted by

Between Denmark and Japan, researchers have been hard at work attempting to create a more humanoid-looking robot and the results are, well, interesting to say the least. Modeling their creation after Associate Professor at the University of Denmark, Henrik Scharfe, the latest android in the Geminoid series is as exciting as it is uncanny-valley creepy. The Tokyo-based animatronics company Koroko is responsible for the design and is just the latest in a long line of successful lifelike creations. Check out the video below to see Scharfe’s Geminoid in action, mimicking human facial features. At a glance it’s definitely convincing and perhaps only a few points shy of passing the Turing Test. Oh and the metallic skeleton underneath it all? Nothing scary about that.
