I could sit here and explain the many reasons why you should buy this week’s XboxLive Arcade release, Bastion. Sure, I could elaborate on its lush, vivid art style. Or tell you about the deep and rewarding combat. Heck, I could go on and on about this game’s incredible story, unique vision, and superb style. But I’m not going to do that. Nope, not a chance. I’m not going to yammer on about how this isometric action-RPG is one of the most unique, beautiful, and rewarding games to hit the indie download scene in a long time. Just try and make me. Seriously, it’s not going to happen. I’m not suddenly just going to let loose of torrent of deserved praise, highlighting the many things which make this a no-brainer day one purchase like the dynamic and hilarious narration just because you want me to. It would be a waste of my time and yours. Time that could be spent playing Bastion.
Bastion kicks off Microsoft’s annual Summer of Arcade showcase event, where every week features a best-of-breed title for you to spend your hard-earned Microsoft Points.
Following a catastrophic event known as the Calamity, the inhabitants of the world struggle to regain the life they once had amidst the chaos and the ongoing presence of deadly creatures. The game’s hero, known only as Kid, awakens to find the world in ruins and makes haste for the Bastion, a place meant to serve as protection in such times. Finding the former bastion destroyed, Kid sets to rebuild the world, save the day, and well- let’s just say there are a few surprises in store.
Wait a minute…
Yes, contrary to what last week’s Geek Release may have told you, Apple did not see fit to unleash its newest version of Mac OS X. The rumor sites had it wrong, we had it wrong, and if you ask us- well Apple got it wrong too. Yeah, that’s it. It was a gamble to call it out and we took a roll of the ol’ dice and came up snake eyes. Anyways, the latest round of rumors peg the release of Lion as sometime this week, possibly as early as Wednesday. But we’re not making any promises this time.
