Canadian documentary filmmaker Rob Spence is now able to record video—in his eye. Spence lost his eye in a childhood accident. As an avid fan of The Six Million Dollar Man, he was inspired by looking at his cellphone camera. He hopes to use the footage gathered from his “Eyeborg” camera for a film project. From The Daily Mail:
The documentary maker is keen to use his eye for a project called Eye 4 an Eye, which will explore privacy issues and whether people are ‘sleepwalking into an Orwellian society.’
He said his subjects won’t know he’s filming until afterward but he will have to receive permission from them before including them in his film. The project in in development with the National Film Board in Canada and is close to being funded.
As for the red LED light, it’s pretty much for show in order to resemble the famous Terminator cyborg played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Find out more at the Eyeborg Project website.
