Remember the Apple IIc? The gentleman behind that design, Hartmut Esslinger, also designed a precursor of sorts to the iPhone, which is to say, a phone with a touchscreen. More or less.
In fact, Esslinger was responsible for Apple’s “Snow White” look, which still defines the brand, and the InterWebs (TM) is chock full of design prototypes that Esslinger cooked up for Apple. They’re quite gorgeous. I’ll bet Steve Jobs wanted to use every single one.
