Geek-Hero Director Darren Aronofsky on Meth

Posted by

There isn’t a geek in this world who doesn’t adore Darren Aronofsky, whose earliest film was about Pi, for god’s sake, and it doesn’t get much geekier than that. His last film, Black Swan, was beautiful and weird and apparently almost killed Natalie Portman because the shoot was so intense. Well, now Aronofsky has produced several anti-meth public service announcements for the Meth Project’s Ask campaign, and they sure do serve as a contrast to those “The More You Know” PSAs.

And you know what? I’m glad they’re so harsh (as are all the Meth Project ads). Meth is destroying entire states in this country, and all most of can do is watch Breaking Bad (in all its awesomeness). People have to take the epidemic seriously, and well, Aronofsky does. (If you didn’t like Requiem for a Dream, you might not like the below videos.)
