Apple’s Siri is going to have competition. Google engineers are hard at work on a voice-activated assistant. Google is apparently calling the system “Majel,” after Majel Barrett, the voice for Star Trek’s interactive computer.
Users would be able to make use of Majel’s natural language algorithms in order to bring about a far more interactive and, hopefully, accurate system.
It seems that Google is developing this in its secret lab. The same lab in charge of things like the Google self-driving car. According to the rumors, Google is working on this project 24/7, with plans to deliver something by the end of this year.
Google is so determined to beat its arch-nemesis, Apple, that it wouldn’t surprise me if it launched by the end of December, Realistically…I think more like January.
