This headline from cnet gave me the shivers:
Comcast installs roach-infested cable box, customer claims
Apparently, Antonio Munoz of Aurora, Illinois, recently installed cable service from Comcast. After the cable guy left, roaches crawled out of the box. Here’s more:
Munoz made several calls to the customer service line, and stopped in the Lake Street location, and no one was able to help him for several days, he said. He wanted new equipment, but was told it would require another installer.
“Why wouldn’t they just take the time to bring you new equipment?” he said.
Munoz carries a bag with dead roaches in them as evidence. He also wrapped up the box and brought it back to Comcast — he does not want the roach-infested equipment in his home.
He has since seen a few cockroaches crawling around his home, which is disturbing.
“We never had a roach problem here ever,” he said.
This article should be headlined: Worst Customer Service Ever Plagues Illinois Man.
Munoz doesn’t seem to be an isolated case. As Chris Matyszczyk points out, there’s a pending class action suit by Illinois Comcast employees “who claim, among other things, that they were forced to install boxes that had cockroach eggs falling out of them.” Ick.
