Dishonored’s Steampunk World Launches Oct. 9th

Posted by

Steampunkers rejoice!  In Dishonored, the new game from Arkane Studios, you enter a macabre world armed with coggy gadgets and supernatural abilities.

You are the once-trusted bodyguard of the Empress. Framed for her murder and driven by revenge, you must become an infamous assassin, known only by the disturbing mask that has become your calling card.

The game takes place in Dunwall, modeled after turn-of-the-century London and Edinburgh.  A plague has ravaged the city, providing the government with justification for exterminating the poor.

As the assassin Corvo Atano, you must complete a series of missions in order to exact revenge upon the Lord Regent.  Players may choose just how stealthily to complete the missions and how much collateral damage is incurred, therefore shaping the path of the game and its ending. You have the power to teleport, stop time, and possess living creatures and you can eliminate all of your targets non-lethally, allowing you to play a less gory game.

The voice cast is impressive, including Susan Sarandon, Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dog’s Mr. Blonde), Brad Dourif (voice of Chucky from Child’s Play), Mad Men’s John Slattery, Lena Headey (Game of Thrones’ Cersei Lannister), Chloë Grace Moretz (Hit-Girl), and the Princess Leia, Carrie Fisher, as the voice of government propaganda that echoes over Dunwall’s loudspeakers throughout the game.  The game is published by Bethesda Softworks, makers of the Elder Scrolls series.
