Since PlayStation Vita’s US debut in February 2012, an extensive list of games has been released for the system, each making use of the Vita’s features in a unique way. Now Media Molecule, the creators of LittleBigPlanet, are boasting something better. Their new game Tearaway claims to be the first title to utilize almost all of the Vita’s features.
The game transports you to a quaint papercraft world filled with possibilities. You’re on an adventure with your envelope-headed pal iota to deliver an important message. Media Molecule and Sony Computer Entertainment describe your journey as an epic buddy adventure.
Using the god-like powers inherent to someone who can hold an entire world in their giant hands, you can make your presence felt using a whole range of godly powers that take advantage of all of the Vita’s bells and whistles—some subtle and some epic. You can shake things up or turn them upside down. A gentle breath from you is a gusty storm. You can even poke your fingers into the back of the PS Vita to tear through into the world and help iota complete this very special delivery.
With its infectious soundtrack, the trailer is sure to grab your attention.
As a world made entirely of paper, Tearaway can be recreated. The official site even lets you download plans to craft your own paper elk, as featured in the trailer. Expect papercraft enthusiasts to fall in love with the game and recreate the entire Tearaway world.
Tearaway is set to debut in 2013. In the meantime, Media Molecule’s LittleBigPlanet for PS Vita releases September 25, 2012. It’s available for pre-order now.
